Exercise & Mental Health

We have all heard the links between the two but let's remind ourselves the positive impacts exercise has, not just for our physical health but our mental health too.

Training is not just about getting fit, strong and hitting goals, it has a huge impact on our mental health.

Lifts your Mood

Let’s face the facts, exercise releases serotonin, dopamine, endorphins… Basically all the good stuff that’s related to our mood cycle, sleep cycle and all the things that help us keep a healthy balanced mind and body. We all know that high you get after you've finished a good workout - you come out of the gym feeling on top of the world - setting you up for a positive day.

Better Sleep

Regular exercise can allow us to sleep better and we all know how amazing a good nights kip is! Better quality sleep helps us focus more during the day, increases productivity and reduces anxiety.

Combats Stress & Anxiety

When you feel like things are getting on top of you by giving yourself that 40/60 minutes out of your day where you focus solely on yourself with no distractions, no negativity, being surrounded by like minded people can change your mood entirely.

It doesn’t even need to be you lifting heavy weights, getting outside for a brisk walk for 20 minutes, collecting your thoughts can allow you breathing space you need to carry on with your day.

Increases Productivity

In an ever evolving time-poor world where we are running at 100MPH a lot of the time it can feel like we don't have enough time in the day. But by giving yourself just 30 mins, blocking it out in your diary like a meeting, actually gives you more energy for your other tasks. Think of that 30mins as an investment & it will lead to you getting more done. By blocking out the stress of every day life for that short period of time can give you the clarity to refocus when you're back on task.

Gives you some 'You-Time'

Whether it's a hectic family life where the majority of your day revolves around running after children or you're chasing the next deadline at work, sometimes we all need that time to step back and focus just on us. Remind ourselves we are just as important to look after. Self care is a big topic at the minute and we believe exercise should be right near the top of that list.

Increasing your energy levels is always going to help your brain regulate emotions and therefore lead to a healthier mindset. Let's make a huge effort to give ourselves 30mins a day (even a walk) to feel happier, increase our focus, energy, sleep and productivity.

Do you find exercise helps you mentally? If so we would love to hear!
